The Man I Used to Know

The Man I Used to Know

A Poem by Jupiter
"

When the one you love isn't the one you met and they may never be again.

"

I wrap myself around the man you used to be
I want to bury myself inside of your chest
and be the one to plant the seed
the seed that will grow and fill
and burst out of you at the seams
that will aid you in growing back to the man you used to be

Your fists will be filled with leaves
and they will radiate life instead of death

You will open your mouth
and your tongue will be bark
hard and brittle
but protecting itself
from those hateful words
you used to speak

Your eyes will change from brown to green
and it is only then
only then that you will see
the pain that now grows inside of me

You planted your seed inside of me
and it grew, and it grew
and it gave us life
and we made it a loving life
maybe one you never knew

I think the man I once loved
has long left this place
as the golden leaves finished falling
winter came and he felt at home
ice touched everything he traced
his words became cold
his touch became bitter
not once more would he ever
make my heart again flitter

Wow...an extraordinary piece. Pulled in from that very first line, and after the first stanza, I thought I'd finish reading the poem wishing the tone of the first stanza was kept...I ended up feeling different. It was finished with as much passion as it began despite the change of tone. Just an awesome read for me.
Thanks for the (100/100) share!
