Remember when

Just a holocaust remembrance poem

remember when they took us on trains

took all of our clothes

faced us with shame

we’d look up to the sky

to see clouds full of planes

remember when they took us on trains

remember when we were free of the chains

living life to the fullest

when no one was to blame

no hiding no seeking

for shelter to sustain

remember when we were free of the chains

remember when only one thing remained

our bodies our minds

buried deep in a grave

what was left was our spirit

our stories not frayed

remember when only one thing remained
