we met on stairsA Poem by between.the.pageslove poemStairs, that's where it started we shared a
secret language and glances conversations
with eyes, smiles, and nods I stole
greetings and your laugh the subtle
shadows of my adoration magnified
around your presence they bloomed
like lilacs in the spring As I descended
the stairs, the past resurfaced I walked
through memories To the
times we met for the first time In the
beginning, there was chaos the four
walls of classroom, muted your existence But not for
long Soon you
shone like a sun after days of rain You were
fearless, unafraid of everything you noticed
me, teased me made me
laugh with you You became
the light in the dark cave You made me
believe in love But I
forgot that you were the sun in the rainy season and you were
in my life without any extension It was that
bus ride you with
her I, with her
friends I yearned to
be next to you but I heard
your laughter with her your laugh
that I once adored brought
tears to me I wept
silently My tears unseen, pain unheard That’s how it ended Then we met
again after years, you were at
the spotlight People were
cheering you I left
everything To see you To be
noticed by you You saw
everyone but me My world
shattered We became
strangers But destiny
had other plans The third
time we met My world
stopped All I could
see was you You did not
see me So I
pretended you didn’t exist It was in
the playground The
scorching sun laughed at everyone’s face But it
bought me time with you Your
laughter, your talks and our old life I felt like
sixteen again Full of
hope and gleam But I was
again left with your memories Stairs, That’s
where it ended when the air
wavered leaves fell storms
danced in the rain you smiled
at me this time I
let you go © 2024 between.the.pages |
