Very well said!!! Unlike the umbrella we welcome the storms and rain into our life no matter how hard we try to stay away from them... Very metaphorical way to say it...
I think I can relate to the sentiment of this poem despite not having a red umbrella.
I hate the rain.
Unless I'm inside.
But I always seem to be damp.
I'm not so sure that 'Brollys' (an english term) actually relish the rain. I live in England and whenever it rains here, which is pretty damn often...I can never find MY umbrella......IT HIDES
In truth, I do not even own an umbrella. Don't tell :)

You do have a unique way of writing. You often provide objects comparing them to oneself, and that conjures up visuals that make the flow and meaning of the words shine.
You know what blows my mind is your unique way of writing. I feel like I get these deep little drops of confessional poetry along the lines of Lowell or Plath. Yet, they read like little Zen proverbs. You write cut throat and honest life proverbs, leaving out all of the horse s**t, malarkey, do this and get this positive result. The world has problems and we have problems and there isn’t necessarily an answer, there is only a storm and we are all trying to weather it. So let me serve it back to your court and say I think you need to work on a publication.
I am Alice through the looking glass...I mix my metaphors with barbiturates. I take my mania with a glass of milk and I rarely look before crossing the street. Walk a mile in my mary janes, friend.
