If I were a lunatic

If I were a lunatic

A Poem by Elizabeth

if I were a lunatic
the world would be orange
or purple
or inside out

down would be left
and squares would smell like tangerines

if I were Alice, I would smash the looking glass
and hide my meds under my tongue
until lights out

but I am not a lunatic
and the world is not orange
or purple
or inside out

and squares have never smelled like tangerines

This poem is unreal, Haunting and awesome in a twisted sense of way. Really great imagery and I love the closing line.

I am a lunatic at times...
Very surreal and dreamy.... I love the smell of tangerines a square smelling like tangerine would be nice..
Very nice Elizabeth.

I love the surealist view point and the Alice imagry.Plus, I loved the unhinged creativity. If you have no frame of reference that I can compare to, and thats what makes a poet great. From what I've read of yours, you seem to be able to take your poetry anywhere and create any image. Your boundless in your work. I've really been enjoying everything!
