Satin shoes

Satin shoes

A Poem by Elizabeth

Dipping my toe into the rosin
One step
One breath
Off stage

Cue... beat... go

One leap

He meets me center stage
Lifts me

Catches my waist
Spins me

Around
And around

I take flight

A leap completed

Melt, sway, glance
Turn, turn, turn

Toe shoes tattered with love
Feet bleeding inside satin
Hunger burning
Perfect ballerina
eyes watching

Wishing
to be
me

Me wishing to be
outside

turning

It says so much more to me than just the dance.
Wanting to be yourself ... it is beautiful and the metaphors are amazing.

Simple, kind. I danced as a ghost alongside you upon the stage..the lighting hit you just right. Bravo. It's beautiful :)

Freedom is the theme I got from this. Other people's expectations pervade as the protaganist is on the stage of life. Escape the rehearse routines... Very nice.

. brilliantly expressed ... oh, that quintessential quest from for freedom from expectations ... i was constantly told what to wear, when to speak, when to shut up ... etc. etc. ... is sheer agony ...
