Behind us, we know

Behind us, we know

A Poem by Beth Wilcox

Behind me, I know

he sits there staring.

In front of me, I know

sometimes she still thinks about me

Behind me, I know

he wonders what I'm doing typing.

In front of me, I know

she misses me like I do her on those cold, wet rainy days.

Behind me, I know

he wants to get out of his desk and talk to me.

In front of me, I know

I want to go talk to her and ask her how she's doing

Behind us, we know

is the time we once were in love, but it's gone.

maybe we'll speak before dawn.
