Final Rain

A Story by WritersSoul

I love love stories but you have to have sad ending too :(

"
Michael walked with his bestfriend. His bestfriend whom he fell for.
Sarah with her long brown hair and pale skin. Her eyes a distant brown that looked black in shadow. She was weak with the cancer that plotted to kill her from the inside. The cancer that gave her now only a few weeks to live from the day it was found low in her pancreas. The day it was found the day that Michael knew he couldn't live without Sarah. Her playful smile, her dedicated kindness and careness. Her laugh that couldn't be stopped and giggles like a pig.
Michael smiled a broken smile. The girl he fell in love with when he was 11 years old. When she first smiled at him in the play ground. No wonder she looked ill when she was younger. Now five years later, she looked the same. The bags under her eyes looked black, her once glowing skin became ashed and pale.
Michael couldn't live without the one he loved. The one who made his blood run through his veins like the Amazon River. Made his mornings early just to see Sarah.

"I'm scared." Sarah said casually. Her hair fell effortlessly on her chest. No matter how much Michael loved her, he couldn't confess how much he loved her.

Michael looked at her, her swollen eyes huge and her body looked thin from her once curvy hips. She slipped a tear from her eyes, it fell without a sound to the floor as we walked past houses to the play park on a foggy day like today.
"Don't be," Michael sucked in his whole bottom lip and breathed out fast.
Sarah looked at the sky that looked like it'd fall down.
"I had a dream," She fidgeted with her hands. "That the guy I really liked kissed me in the rain and he wouldn't let go of me. Then I fell from his grip through the floor, even though he promised not to let go."
Oh yeah. Michael did a mean smile to himself. Sarah already liked someone. She'd go on and on and on about him, she never told Michael who he was or his description. But she never shut up about him.
"Thats cruel," Michael was going to say I'd never let you go.
Then realised he'd look stupid.
When Sarah's parents found out that she was going to die, they took her everywhere in the past two weeks. They couldn't afford their only daughters happiness of holidays, so they took her to zoo's and theme parks, of course, inviting Sarah's only friend. Michael.
Michael was her only friend, she was always bullied in school. For her lanky body and her background of being poor. Michael had been in fights for her, from the cruel comments from people who didn't know the Sarah like he did.
"Michael," she said in a tired voice. "I am so tired." She yawned.
Michael touched her arm affectionately. He smiled a fake smile. His heart was in his thraot, he couldn't swallow. "You'll be okay."
They reached the empty haunted looking play park. The swings moved silently, the round-a-bout turning with the wind.

Sarah sat on a swing, Michael took the one next to her. He closed hos eyes tightly, keeping the ache from his eyes at bay, the tears daring to show.
"I'm so tired." She yawned again. The sky grumbled. They both looked up.
"You'll have no energy. Did you eat?" Michael looked as she shook her head. Before she was diagnosed with cancer, she didn't eat much anyway. Now she was diagnosed, she hardly ate anything. "No wonder."
        She giggled.
"Come on!" She jumped up, grabbing Michael's arm as she hefted him up. Michael caught Sarah as she stumbled.
"Don't move so much when you have no energy." She came from his arms and turned away, grasping her jeans pocket. It had something in there.
She ran to the climbing frame, hoisting herself up the ladders. "Howay you slowpoke!" She laughed.
Michael exhaled and looked at the grey sky that growled.
He ran to the ladders and climbed up after Sarah. She squeeld as Michael grabbed her leg on the platform, she lay on her side and got her ankle back, she pushed through a tube. She stood on the other side, Michael climbed over it, she sceamed "Cheater!"
The sky started to slowly drop waterdrops from the heavens.
As Michael reached Sarah, she was out of breath. She was deeply breathing, hands on her knees, trying to eat the air she couldn't have.
This was pain to watch. Like a punch to Michael, he couldn't look at her. He frowned as his fists clenched.
He moved beside her as the water soakened her back. Michael stripped of his jacket and covered her back. She straightened herself, and thanked Michael. She looked up, taking in the relaxing rain.
"Let the rain hit your face." She breathed.

Michael looked at the memorizing Sarah that put him on high alert. He faced the sky, the relaxing teardrops from the clouds releasing the stress from Michaels face and loosened the grip on his bleeding heart.
Sarah's hand accidently bumped Michael's. They both quickly looked at eachother. Michael kept his tingling hand close to himself. His heart beated loudly in his ears, grew larger with every gulp in his throat. He looked around as his arms raised goosebumps, the cold biting at him.
"I feel dizzy." Sarah exclaimed.
Michael looked at Sarah alarmed.
She closed her fairy eyes and just stood. Michael turned to her, suddenly feeling the grip on his heart tighten again, he was lookig her up and down. Scared more than anything.
She swayed and Michael held her quick. She opened her eyes.
The rain hit them fiercely, Michael held her close, the smell of her perfume and her normal house smell comforted him and scared him. She looked up at him, her legs tangled with Michael's.
        They kissed.
The sound of rain pondering the metal around them. They were in their own little bubble. Michael had never felt his heart bbeat so loud, against his chest as he crushed Sarah closer. She ran her fingers through his long black hair.
Michael just held onto her with all his might, scared to let her go.
Sarah silently reached into her jeans pocket, hard since the rain made the jeans cling to her.
She got out what she needed, then she kept kissing, the rain soaking her hair.
Then suddenly, Sarah went limp. Her head leaned back, her hold on his hair fell and her eyes continued to stay closed.
Michael's eyes grew larger with fright. He began hyperventilating. He held her with both arms and took a good look at her. He started to cry and shook her. He checked her neck pulse, no pulse. He cried more hysterically now. He got his phone out and fumbled for the 3 numbers that could impossibly save her life.

He waited in the rain as he sat in the cold rain with the girl he loved desperately in his arms. She grew cold. Michael cried over her, then he kicked his head back quick and screamed.
"Sarah!" He cried to the sky as the rain his face. No longer calming him. He screamed again.
"Sarah!....Sarah!" He looked down and looked at her sweet face. Her mouth agape.
He seen her hand closed around something.
He picked from her cold hands a piece of paper.
         The ambulence in the distant.
He read the paper.

Right,
The love I feel is like the sun that pierces the bad clouds.
Like the best love song I keep listeing to.
I will secretly look at your deep blue eyes.
I secretly want you to hold my hand.
I talk to you like my bestfriend when really I think the world of you.
You make me go to sleep dreaming of you.
Make me wake wanting to see you.
Now I know my end,
This is a love letter I'm scared to send.
You talked about this girl once to me,
I was scared thinking there wouldn't be.
Be a me and you.
So, Michael, I am telling you this way.
Hoping you think the same as I do,
From the bottom of my heart
...I Love You.
Sarah x

Michael suddenly sat up, the rain and the siren felt ureal to him. He screamed again. "NO!"
He held Sarah's face in his hands. "I love you, too, Sarah!" Michale cried. He heard the ambulance screeching closer. Michael clenched his fist and punched the hard metal beneath him. "Sarah," He whispered. "I love you, too." He cried. Looked at her eyes.
       They fluttered open.
Michael looked starteled. He sat her up, her words quiet.
"I.." She stuttered. "I know you do." She smiled then fell back in his arms.
Michael looked at her, limp and gone from her body form. He touched her face that was cold. Her haunted smiled scared Michael.
The ambulance was here and Michael cried.
The girl he loved wasn't the body Sarah, Sarah was now somewhere where the pain wouldn't come anywhere near her.

He watched the ambulance screech away from the climbing frame, he sat with the paper in his hands. He felt the rain hit him slowly, the dream of Sarah's scared him. The guy must've been him, but he didn't let go, she just knew it was her time to go.

The rain hit Michael as he walked down a quiet road with Sarah's love letter folded in his pocket. He cried home with the rain a constant reminder of Sarah's face. He wouldn't dare make room in his heart for anyone else. The rain blended with his tears.

Hmm very sad and emotional.
A quick little love story. I love the amount of characterization you managed to squeeze in.

Wow. That's a sad,sad story.
There was some really good descriptions and an overall good tale. I definitely felt for the characters.
There was also a lot of grammatical errors but those can easily be fixed looking over it a few more times.
Nice job.
