Grinds

Grinds

A Poem by J.P.

Dear Tina,
I love your burritos.
They are simple and cheap.
You provide a commoner's touch to our pretentious world.
You satisfy my wallet, my stomach, my soul.
I know you're not racist.
You partner well with an IPA, a frosty Miller Lite,
or an icy cold glass of milk.

You have such a commoner’s vibe to your writing in the best sort of way, like a Sandburg, Frost, Twain mixture with Ginsberg bitters tossed in.

3 of my faves in one poem, an IPA, definitely a frosty Miller Lite and a cold glass of milk. And I don't know Tina, but if I did, I would probably like her too!

a unique love poem/letter. it reminds me of Bukowski, maybe because of the "working class" tone, and perhaps because of the mentioning of the beer. there's also the importance of being "real" in a pretentious world, which B. thought important. i wonder how Tina would respond.
