Patchwork Heart

Patchwork Heart

A Poem by BetanuZwei

My patchwork heart abruptly

Skips the beat that it desires,

So many times you’ve torn it,

With those eyes that glow like fires,

Your wispy hair is flying

In this cool north-eastern breeze,

Like silken tiny raindrops,

Like waves upon the seas,

The time is moving slowly,

As my heart repeats

It’s ever mending process

To repair the broken beats,

Your eyes begin to water,

But still you keep on staring,

Slowing glazing over,

Aching from the glaring,

Your hand reaches the doorknob

Ever trying to retreat "

Your eyes are pointing downward

Always looking at your feet,

Then something loud awakens

Your momentary sleep

You look once more towards me,

And then begin to weep,

Silently you leave me,

Nothing left but broken hearts,

Once again you’ve torn it "

My dying, patchwork heart
