Notes In The Garden

Notes In The Garden

A Poem by BetanuZwei

Were it simple,

I would lie with her

and grow

like the daffodils beside her,

love begetting beauty

and opening my heart

petal by petal.

Were it simple,

I would lie with her

and blossom

like the pinking buds above her,

love begetting fruitfulness

and whispering my secrets

flower by flower.

Were it simple,

I wouls lie with her

growing old

golden like the leaves around her,

love begetting decay

and falling softly into her

leaf by leaf.

Were it simple,

I would lie with her

and die

like the bare branches,

love begetting eternity

and waiting, watching,

for it to be simple again.

This one is lovely -- and great structure to it as well. Also, I enjoyed how you titled your poem -- clever.
