Dreamboat

Dreamboat

A Poem by BetanuZwei

Don't Hurt Them.

I shout it to the air
then jolt myself awake
and breathe out my sins
onto the pillow.
I don't remember the first,
I was younger and susceptible
to your touch, your soft voice.
I blacked you out,
made you my Monster
and I the Victim
baby.
You must have hated them.
How close they got,
how each stole some part
of me, a red raw chunk
of pulsing muscle that you
could never steal back.
I can only ask you,
whisper it whilst I watch you
or shout it to the air -

Don't Hurt Them.
