A wish
not entirely selfish
though perhaps with self in mind
at once heartbreak
and hope
for a nanosecond
a glimpse
a trail of fire
across the sky
half-hidden by the streetlights
almost missed
by a blink
strange to think

your happiness bet on a piece of rock
burnt up.
