Confabulation

Confabulation

A Poem by BetanuZwei

I like the way my breath

catches somewhere between my heart and my mouth.

I like the way my ears

block out all the sounds of the outside world.

I like the way that death

makes my own heart stop beating for a moment.

I like the way the tears

sting my eyes and leave cooling tracks down my cheek.

I like to pretend to feel,

but this pain,

this pain is real.
