Future Times

Future Times

A Poem by BetanuZwei

What a world, baby,

what a world.

I wonder will you ever get to see

a polar bear?

Will my home town be twenty, thirty,

forty leagues under?

What keeps you warm, baby?

Surely not gas or coal or oil.

Maybe keeping warm is not the problem.

What's it like?

God I wish it wasn't now.

I wish I could have been born earlier,

so you in turn could live in calmer times.

But here you are.

Probably no more than my fist, but

here you are.

I can sense your apprehension.

What a world, baby,

what a world.
