Arsonist

Arsonist

A Poem by BetanuZwei

I can't remember when it was ever so quiet
ever so still
ever so empty.
They've all gone, left me here alone.
Was it arson?
Maybe I just wanted them gone.
Burned them out.

Truth is, now I'm lonely
here in my head,
no more shouting voices and laughter
other people's smiles.
And now I'm lonely.
Just the sooty photograph,
a memory of how it was
before I killed the invasion with fever.
