Struck Dumb by the Change in Space and Time

I was trapped,
in between the close of one second
and the start of the next.
The beginning.
Or the end.

I stood, struck dumb by the change in space and time,
staring back on a world
where we were content.
Staring on to a world
where we could be happy.
Or we could wither.

That pinpoint in time,
where your brain fired synapses;
where my heart trembled.

When did you drop your cigarette on the ground?
The last time I saw it
you had it clasped between your perfect lips,
now clasping a perfect smile.
Something tells me,
this is going to be
one hell of an adventure
