Still alive, killing time at the cemetery Never quite buried -TS-

we are having coffee in your car

on the beach and in the bar 

oh love

you kissed me in the graveyard

i was there barely alive

told me that would keep us apart

my dad and your mom are there

they said we made a good pair

i'll replace her and you'll replace my father

it's been 5 months but i still couldn't write 5 poems about to get over you

i never let you cry or go

deleted all the messages and that photo

you didn't even know i had taken

i still check your playlist

in case you confessed you missed me

in the hidden songs you liked

ive been dreaming a lot since july

you'll attend my bday and i wont cry

for the first time in my life

i thought i wouldn't be the fall guy

i know you'll go on military duty soon

i'll wait for your call before June

cause i packed my things to leave on the full moon

i stopped reading books, so you can't call me smart

you used to say i was too much for a guy like you

so i waited till you reached

you stayed there and never took a step

blamed me for all the things i had

in my past and everything else

i said i really need to get rest, in my head

you never called since we called it quits

my friends said you were in a funeral suit

i drank for my "first last time" there

i used some words just to hurt

i still wait for your apology

i cant see any excuse for what you did to me

i still care

i still care

i still care

its been 5 months but

i couldn't write

5 poems to get over you.

Author's Note

My ex asked me when we broke up "when will I be able to get over our relationship" and I said after writing 5 poems.

I still haven't finished those 5 poems
and today has full moon

Life and time takes memories as a gift wrapped in very fragile tissue. Getting over certain happenings can leave so many emotions locked in time, tisn't easy to say goodbye. Your words inevitably leave a lasting wake behind it.. this is no exception. Sadly superb writing, Beren.

I sat down and read quite a lot of your poems..and let me tell you.. you have this amazing ability to capture even the subtlest of details and then write about it in such beautiful ways, sometimes I don't even understand(or maybe I'm just dumb lol)..and your poems always leave me thinking for a while..never stop writing..

Go to YouTube and find Paul Thorn's song, "If I Can Over Her"...I think you'll see the relevance to my request once you hear the song. I wrote a song for Paul called Something in the Water which I later recorded myself on a podcast. I guess breaking up is always hard to do.

first of all, i feel special gratitude to everyone who suggests songs for my poems and i'm so glad YOU did! and i'm grateful that you suggested it, i get what you mean, for some reason i felt like i knew the lyrics! i'm grateful, i loved it SO MUCH! i will be stuck with that for a while.

So powerful, filled with honest thoughts and hard lesson. I couldn't write goodbye poetry. I wanted to dodge the sad memories for a long time after. I was a soldier for 15 years. I had to leave people and when I returned. Once kind love wasn't so strong. I enjoyed the poetry dear Beren. Your words took me to some old places in time. I love how you write. Thank you so much for sharing your feelings. There is nothing more valuable than people reading my poems and telling their own stories about it... Military service is really a job that requires sacrifices in every aspect, I took the military exam this Sunday and even before anything happened, I was thinking about everything I had to sacrifice. And after such a process, that you are writing a poem and "returning to feelings" is the most BRAVE thing that could happen. It is very powerful. i am proud of you sir!

A breakup is one of the most traumatizing events to have to face in life...and when it happens we all have trouble trying desperately to figure out why and how....your writing is clear, emotional and personal...and we all go through periods of anger, depression, and perhaps hop for the future...your love was honest and and those are the memories you need to keep close...

oh man do i relate to the checking their playlist for hidden messages! we're all so alike as humans. as unfortunate as these pains are in our life, the advantage i guess is giving us beautiful pieces like this to write. i hope your next relationship gives you the peace and love you deserve.

This poem is so sentimental. "It's been 5 months but I still couldn't write 5 poems to get over you" this line really speaks to the heart of your struggle. The imagery and the way you describe the memories in the poem make it so relatable. Those 5 poems you'd write to get over your ex aren't written easily, while you think of ideas, you remember memories and those memories are full of emotion which is what makes it so hard. Just remember that everything takes time, some things take too much unfortunately but that is how life is, learn to appreciate every little moment and eventually you may forget about him but of course don't just listen to every piece of advice someone gives you unless you want to. Some advice is truly useless! Follow your heart and brain and do as they say, you've got this! :D

those could be the hardest five poems ever to write.
I really like the playlist part...I am so into music, old rock songs and the memories each one brings, many to do with my past relationships...I cannot forget those relationships no matter how many poems I have written about them...5 or 5 thousand.
