exorcism

exorcism

A Poem by berenongur

I miss the way I was before you
My innocent face in photos
Unkissed, untouched by you
I love my eyes that hasn't looked into your eyes
I love my hands didn't hold by yours
I want to be cleansed from you
Not enough to delete photos
Not enough to delete messages
I need an exorcism

I don't think you ever really get over someone you have loved, even after an exorcism. For me, and where your poem took me, is, am I a better person because of this love? Have I grown and better understood what I want out of a love? If we can do this, I believe we can recapture that smile in the photos, even if that love was toxic. And here is a question, if this poem is something very personal, more autobiographical, Have you grown? Do you see your own self-worth, so that the next time you love, that kiss will be for the first time!!

Thanks for sharing your poem Berenongur

Wow, what a powerful write,
a cleanse, we all feel this way after something so sweet turned black, but the sad reality it isn't so easy to just let go or forget quickly. It takes a whole lot of time,
Nicely penned... thanks for sharing

Wow! An unpolished look at love through the poet's eyes is sublimely inked in this poem. It is so easy to get lost in love, to lose oneself in another, only to be left aside. A very poignant write in which the poetess wishes she could return back in time to before she met her love. She wants to get him out of her life, but not badly enough, because she wants to keep his texts, photo's and messages. The exorcism will never be effective until the texts, photo's, messages are erased, and only the memories of bitter-sweet times remain. Amazing write, so well expressed! Thank you for sharing, Berenongur...

Most welcome always, Berenongur...
Love can hurt, missing love can hurt. Love is the height and depth of living, One can't escape, one doesn't want to.. living is the spine of people's existance - or can be, right or wrong. Your poetry is raw yet.. supremely frank. Fine writing.. sadness tinged with regret for having the pleasure you wanted - big BUT!

This poem powerfully captures the raw emotion of longing for one's former self before love left its mark. It speaks to the deep desire to reclaim innocence and purity after a relationship that has left a lasting emotional impact. Love here is portrayed not as a source of joy, but as something that alters and consumes, leaving the speaker yearning for a sense of cleansing and release. The intensity of the emotion reflects the profound effect love can have on one's identity and sense of self.

Sometimes we love the wrong person, it's okay. It's only makes us better.
feelings of disappointment, perhaps retribution of sorts, certainly not a positive circumstance…….worded perfectly……i feel as if i’m that other person taking the punishment….stark and vivid
well written
