Teeth

Teeth

A Poem by Ben

If I had to make one large synonym about whats been going on lately. (8

You swim like a dolphin in the silky waters.
But I honestly have no intentions of stepping away.
Slowly I put my feet in, one by one.
I get the chills, just imagining what lies beneath the one-way surface.
From beneath the ripples I know you see my face.
You can already taste the fear in my blood I haven't yet spilled.
I'm hoping you really are something different.
Without second guess I step back out, stand back up, and turn around.
I want to leave, but I want to get in.
Out on the edge I feel like you will just jump out and pull me in by my ankles.

The swaying of the waves, slapping against my vessel, makes blood pump even faster through all of my human vessels.
I look to the sky, and lean back against the water, giving myself one hard push.

Crisp sky noises turns into a bubbly water noise.
I am pretending I am blind with my eyes pasted shut.
Like medicine to the sting of a cut, the ocean coolness soothes my nerves; I accidentally learn to see again.
I see beauty, it's amazing how clear it is from inside this huge volume.
In awe I turn, left and right--everywhere but behind.
So I do.

In still silence, the tremendously sized shark sits, smiling, still and ready.
Awkward like a spider, the creature makes way.
I am not turning back, this is what I asked for.
My only way out is through the miracle of God.
Please send me out of these waters.
