Africa my home

Africa my home

A Poem by Benson Osuji
"

Africa,Africana,Afriq

"
I lay cold in the waters
My vision blurred
Because of another man's laws
Nearing death for betraying my own

My heart fought my obsession for white
With an African tune of old
My cold hands tried to stamp the beat
As I wallowed in the cold

My memory failed the foreign
And embraced Africa
My home, my heritage
Alas I reached land

The soil of my ancestors
The air of freedom
Greeted me
As I proclaimed ''Africa''

I imagine that it is calming and renewing to return to one's birthing soil! Have you returned successful or have you returned a failure with a bitter taste in your mouth?
This return will set in your mind for years as your foreign experience when you are in turn advising others.
I would hope that you can see through your experiences and perhaps see the possible rewarding experiences of others yet to leave Africa for foreign soils.

You should cultivate the art of writing fast and not worrying about flaws. It is the message that counts, not grammar.

thanks a lot
I have had the pleasure of being able to remain upon the land of my birth and been fortunate enough to be able to remember the sacrifices my folks and their parents made so that I may be here, today... I love your poem about remembering where you come from...
