Crush

Crush

A Poem by Mr.Crescendo

I couldn't say that my days without you

were filled with joy and excitement

but it is true, that perhaps

my days are better without you

Out of sight, but still in mind

in fantasy, I managed to find

the courage, the strength, to talk to you

because in reality, I knew you'd leave me blue

I'd like to say your face brings comfort,

and to a certain extent it does.

But your eyes that shine so bright

remind me of what never was

The ghosts of my futile past

come once more to find me

take pleasure in the thought

I receive no sympathy

But to my art I must be true

both of us have made the commitment

my heart drains to a dismal blue

and yet, you're innocent

And I can't say I enjoy

working with your sisters

spitting images of you

tearing at my innards

And the sad truth is these next few months

won't prove to be better

with the practices, the shows,

the classes will bring us together

I long for someone for whom to sing

but your doorbell I can't bring myself to ring
