Drops

A Story by ben

A rural road, windows are rolled down, the music low.  All is well until O’Malley says, “Radar says that there is a police cruiser up ahead and that I should lower my speed.” In passing, Lewis, having the best view, turns to O’Malley and says, “No one’s home.”

Parked on the side of the road, and with chosen gear upon their backs, O’Malley says to Lewis, “I never doubted you before, no sense in starting now.” The vision of her curled in a ball all the while watching the beam inch its way to where she must sit up to feel its warmth has Lewis one step ahead of O’Malley.
