With every step being like the last, the change of everyone coming to a stop throws her off. Tense in standing around, the man who is running the show is taking his time in looking around to what she cannot see until he turns to the rest of them only to bark out, “Jimmy, come over here.”

Immediately doing what he is told, it is easy for her to hear what the man says to Jimmy. “I need you to round us up a good meal. Here, take this with you in case you come across a stream.” Taking what is handed to him, without a spoken word, Jimmy is up and over.

What seen gets her to thinking he has ground to make up as the man who offered her his canteen, moves her close to the boss man who gives her a look before he says to the other, “She doesn’t complain much. That shows that she has grit.”

“Maybe too much, but yeah.”

“It’s too bad about that.” He looks elsewhere like he has something else on his mind when the other man says, “What do you want me to do?”

“Do what is necessary to keep her safe.”

A nod follows that leads to her being picked up off the ground and after the man sets her on the other side of the road barrier, he tells her, “Go on down. I’ll be right there.”

Sliding down to where she reaches level ground, she looks to the two men who are keeping an eye on where they are stepping that has her chance of getting away bursting in her chest until what comes to mind is Jimmy being out there which has her standing to where she is.
