The Traveler

So far, every glance over to, finds empty seats and having firsthand knowledge of why this is, the thought is lost as he steps around a shredded plastic bag full of a nasty mess that used to be someone’s cat. With guts and eyes long gone, what kicks in is the day when the sky opened up and the ground parted. All at once leaves no time for there to be a symbolic farewell from the nation’s capital as in the blink of an eye, every human ends up going to one place or the other with the exception of those who did not fit the requirements. Those people were thrown back. Some still live, the crunchy old woman making sure of this. Liking her for doing what she does, carries the good feeling forward in giving the cat a decent burial of rock stacked in such a way that the formation aligns with the stars. With the last stone in place, brings himself up to his feet and after stepping back, thinks good thoughts while turning away in continuing on through the quiet of the day.
