The Traveler

The Traveler

A Story by ben

Having a soft heart balanced against a hardened soul is not easy to carry. Adding another branch to the fire, from out of the dark comes a moth. Flying around the fire counterclockwise, the moth passes overhead before it lands on his pack. Having no problem sharing the warmth of the fire, wonders if the moth is aware of the monarch butterfly hanging out with a purple bumblebee when he gets a sudden notion that he is a lot closer to the three men than he thinks.

Stumbling over the thought, what he hears is that distinctive sound of a zipper being used and as his eyes slip that way in seeing the dog hobbling around in looking for a place to take care of its morning business, out from the tent is Lilly walking over to where she sits beside him.

Checking to see if the moth is still there, finds that the moth has taken flight and bidding a late farewell, diverts his attention to Lilly who is looking up to him. “I had the weirdest dream. You were in it, you, and some other lady with beautiful hair and skin to die for. Around us, are others too, but I can’t see them. By the way, the dog’s better this morning. Anyways, what’s up?”

Just like that is the beginning of their day.
