An ongoing story that is unedited. But I have a title!

"

Of the leftovers, some are gifted like him, and thinking the kid has special skills, being curious, he asks, “How did you know?” Standing her ground, the kid makes a stand. “In case you forgot, my name is Jasper.” Their eyes lock for a fraction of a second until Jasper goes on.  “Like I was going to say, two men, one in the lead, and the other following a good step behind went the same way I did when I was in that cage.” Pausing, the kid adds, “Until you came along.”

Her way of thanking him crosses his mind and once out of the rough and on the road, Jasper bears her soul.

“It was supposed to be a safe house. Turns out that was a lie.” A pause. “Besides me, there were others there too. In and out they all went but those two men, they thought I was special. Fed me like I was their pet. Scraps and water. Never mind about all the rest. Anyways, just thought you should know this.”
