Apathy

Apathy

A Poem by Ben Rogers
"

A poem written when falling out of love.

"

The rain,

War in the middle east,

What my childhood crush thinks of me,

Politics,

Wearing matching socks,

My smoke alarm beeping because it has no battery,

Television,

Radio one,

Who heard which album before who,

Sleeping alone,

Finishing the last toke of a cigarette,

Whether those shoes go with that top,

High school,

Becoming a footballer,

The fact that I won’t ever be able to sing,

John Mayer,

The twin towers,

If people like my tattoos,

And you.

All of these are things that I slowly stopped caring about.

Usually not a fan of list poems but this one made me laugh at the end. I like how it turns so quickly in the last three lines.
