My Response to Thou.

My Response to Thou.

A Poem by Benjamin J Booth
"

I wrote this as a response. The speaker of the poem is addressing someone who is infatuated with them, up to a point that there have been accused of leading said person on.

"

My Response to Thou.

Too long thine eyes have dwelt on me,

For the world, this is plain to see,

The blame hath been laid at my door,

Thy gross untruths

Show the uncouth

Way thy art

Tied so far

To the pain thy feel, and endure.

Thine heart is not for me to keep,

For it gives its love far too cheap,

I am not thine to love, tis clear,

I never was,

Thy see because,

Thy doest fret,

But thy forget,

Thou are not whom I hold most dear.

Lies to thou? I have told thy naught,

Foolish thy be if thou forgot,

In thy head this love hath been made,

Is thy just mad?

Or simply sad?

Set me free,

For I foresee,

That love will come, be not dismayed.

I used a 17th century style language because this poem was inspired by John Donne's 'The Message'.

Quite brilliant, I love the old style of language it's like flowers in bloom when compared to they way some people speak today. The first stanza reminded me of the way John Keats wrote. Thanks for sharing.
