White

White

A Story by Benjamin Ruthrow

The blank slate. The clean sheet. The color that erases it all. The color that shows all others. This is white. It surrounds us all the time without even a hint of declaration. It is something we need to look for in order to truly see it. It is not noticed by the passing eye but recognized by the attentive one. No matter how average and how plain it may seem, it is something that is used. It is not an average color but one of the most important. It is the foundation for all and the building block for future ones. We do not see it because we are blinded. Blinded by the others that stand out and appeal to what we look for. They take away from what else is there. They take away our true vision and replace it with a clouded one. White is not seen. It is invisible, it is faded into the background and forgotten. But have hope, for there are those who are not blinded. Those who's eyes are attentive and see everything. Those that notice the invisible and seek out the faded. It is they who are the future. It is they who will change the very fabric of life and it is they who will once again bring attention to the faded and the invisible. They will be the ones to once again bring about the color white.
