The Tarnished KnightA Poem by benjamminghamA poem I did during last school year.Let me tell you an interesting tale One with damsels and shining knights in mail You know this one; with a castle and beast Waiting for a brave man on which to feast But here comes a man with tarnished armor Armed with his wit and skills of a farmer Wielding good nature he charmed the large beast So the damsel’s distress would then be ceased I wish I could say they lived happily, But the damsel just wanted to be free. No gratitude for his amazing deed. No fulfillment for the young lover’s need. Through cruel rejection the young lady won Breaking male hearts until her days were done. As for the tarnished knight, he went to sea. He claimed, “There’s plenty of fish there for me.” © 2012 benjamminghamAuthor's Note
