On a Summer Day

On a Summer Day

A Poem by Maurice

The earth basks
In the summer sun;
Seated at sidewalk cafés
Are people resting momentarily
From the frenzy
While on the sidewalk
Lies somebody
Forgotten,
Maybe alive
But no one cares.
