Different scenarios relating to war and to public indifference.

The blazing sun
Scorches the earth;
The blue sky
Almost mockingly
Crowns the day
While down below
The people continue
To kill one another
In a brutal game
Called war.

Lizards frolic about
The stone and briar-filled garden
And on the ground
Is a blood-soaked shirt
Once khaki but no more,
now just a memory.

In the city
The people walk
Along the streets,
Stopping to buy
Multicolored ices,
Saying it is
The hottest summer
Anyone can remember
In years.
