A treason with a smile

A treason with a smile

A Poem by Marie

Washed away were the words I wrote
by the wave of a cruel cold sea.

A childish ambition. To write our names
in the land of time when no voice
dares to break my desperation.

As if some trick could bring you back to me.
Wishful thinking had never been so hopeless.

When memory can make it better,
reality remains shut.
And every embrace that was a shelter
will be one thorn more in my chest.

A treason with a smile
is not meant to harm the sight.

This poem definitely hit something with me. It reminded me of a wonderful person I lost so long ago. I still think about her on a daily basis and this poem is the perfect description of how I still feel about her passing. Excellent work

Ah... A poem with a forked tongue... Treason is treasonous... It may not be meant to harm and the smile being used to disarm the wary is how the treason is felled upon the prey...
An intriguing write Marie.
Well done.

Thank you, Brett! I might change the words in the title so I don't repeat "ambition" :)
