Gold Mine Gutted

Gold Mine Gutted

A Poem by bellastella
"

There is a Bright Eyes song called Gold Mine Gutted... inspiration.

"

I am a gold mine gutted

I am sorry if you want me to be more

I held all the pleasures and joys I could for you

But now I have nothing left

I’m just a hole in the ground

you could find a replica anywhere

I really wanted to be special for you

a glittering love

I did want you inside me

even if it was only for you to carve out my heart

and melt it into a tame locket

to wear around your neck

a trophy of the me you claimed

I am a gold mine, I am yours

but you will never be mine

I am familiar with the song, and I think you drew a great source of inspiration from it! I really enjoyed the way your speaker allowed the emotions to shine through in the piece. Realizing you will never be good enough is hard to come to terms with, but you've made it seem so effortlessly painful. Thanks for sharing!
