ashA Poem by Bella
hands are numb
watching the ash flicker around me, falling to the ground. the red and yellow shedding little light on a broken smile. why does cold associate with numb? the raindrops so light, they are barely noticed dripping down, on a body so ready to give itself up. melancholic music distracting one ear while the other listens out for what fears are made of. the presence of a ghost constantly felt but never quite noticed. temptation dawns and it is hard to resist. the others shouting for more to join. blistering pain shoots through and a sigh of defeat escapes the once whole mouth. the collective disappointment of everyone is dropped, left to sink into the ground, decomposing in such a state that will last years. leaving it's mark. creating a wound that never quite heals.
