Hope(less)

Hope(less)

A Poem by kurothecat

I've given up.
On those so-called
chance meetings
that don't turn into anything
other than a
bump on the shoulder.
Flings that happen
on a whim
because of
the boiling urges
from the sun.
Embraces
and lukewarm touches
whose leaves will surely
be swept away as
the air turns cold.
Stupid promises
that couldn't be kept.
Swallowing
a thousand needles
and enduring the pain.
Although, to be honest,
I don't dislike the
thought of romance.
Butterflies in your stomach;
Maybe it was something you ate?
Feeling like you're walking on air;
I feel like that after a visit from the dentist.
Hearts racing;
To a non-existing finish line.
Instead of stumbling or falling...
I've been standing tall
with my eyes wide open.
