Not RealA Poem by Kye R HOn disability, orientation, gender, and sex deemed non-existent.
I hear the chanting in the back of my mind. I don't exist.
From doctors, from family, from peers, from politicians, from super store toy sections and the neat line down isles sorting antiperspirant into genders. Fox News panels debate whether or not my sexuality exists. Leagues of doctors have decided my disability is not profitable enough to be taken seriously. Bring in the experts, my gender is unfounded call the police: this one doesn't fit into the sex binary xx xxx xo x xxy xy I threaten the safety of the neat category delusion I threaten the system designed to keep the disabled easy to deal with in schools. I have to prove every aspect of myself to earn the right to be recognized. I have to be the best in order to be half valid. R e a l i t y is shaking S e l f p e r c e p t i o n is arguing with itself. When you're told you're not real long enough you star t to b e l iev e you r e a li e heroes in duster coats won't save reality now why would they try when I'm Not Real faker trender special n o t r e a l a phase sick it's all in your head, dear your disease is just stress, dear f**k you all
