Scarlet Demon

Scarlet Demon

A Chapter by Bekah B

She has lips like rubies
Sparkling in the mist
A soft crimson dress
Draped across her chest
The fire in her gaze
Obscures the dark abyss
Because the bitter truth
Is her eyes are ink-black holes-
She's a crossroads demon
Standing at the corner
With a promise in her hands
Beckoning you closer
She will grant your wish
You'll have it for a time
Beware the sacrificial price-
Your happiness costs your soul
But it's a deal you'll take
Along the side of the road
You know what you want
And will never let go
She's so convincing
With her heavy breaths
Irresistibly intoxicating
But she tastes like death
She leans in close
You whisper your wish
Writhing in pain
As she seals it with a kiss
Then with one last caress
Of her cherry locks
She vanishes like smoke
With your fragile soul
You bury your offering
Among the crossroads sand
Knowing she'll be back again
To take you by the hand
And drag you down to hell.

This sounds vaguely familiar, like a distant memory recalled in a passing mist. Demonic metaphors adrift in a sea of resonance. How lovely.
