Tea Party

Tea Party

A Chapter by Bekah B

Welcome to this wonderland
I can see it all there in your head
Smoke and mirrors catching
Daylight as it fades
And we're betting everything
On a pocket ace of spades
That you slipped up your sleeve-
And for a gambling man
You don't leave much to chance
Not anymore.
Smoke and mirrors, Hatter
They've always done you in
But it's different now-
The raven and the writing desk
Won't haunt you anymore
And you and me
Can sit down to tea
Without the rabbit on our tails.
And maybe time is different here
Who could really say, but
Having spent a whole year
On this side of the looking glass-
Not the queen nor her axeman
Nor anyone at all
Could ever make me go back.
