Dog Train

I blast my soul, tearing fingers that wont let go,
    Onto that dog train that screams on the rails
Howling down the tracks screaming something about what my fate is
    Suddenly all I need is the air I breathe
And a place where it rains all day on me
    Singing all the old rock n roll songs
With my wide open mouth tearing at the wind   
    That speaks so softly to me
Leading me to a place where I can rest my head
    And the tune goes mmmmmbop mmmmbop mmmmbop
Poking where my heart is
    Where is somewhere
Better anywhere
    Love is
And I don't mind if I lost it
    And things havent turned out how I wanted
Jumping on the dog train
    Its all I need
Like the air I breathe
    And the rain that cleanses my mind
I don't try to shake this
    I just prayed that I would make it to the dog train
On time
    Cause its all I need
Chasing the memories of the poets before me
    Sleeping on skid row
Begging for a dime, swallowing some rancid wine
    I didn't think that I could find it
Better than I had it
    That's when I reached down my throat
And blasted my soul, tearing fingers that wont let go,
    Onto that dog train screaming on the rails
Telling my story that hasn't been written about in the papers
    It wont make me fall apart now
Its not tragic cause its fair
    All my writings that have greyed my hair
All my writings that have moved me
    Now lay behind me
Riding this dog train I don't need no quick plane
    All I need is this somewhere
Where I don't have to fall apart now
    Wooooa woooa woooa wooooooooaaaaa
Asking myself what now
    What now
This tragedy is not all that I see
    Crying out for some mercy

    Ready for that cold town at the depot
Where I will stare down at myself
    Counting all the years
Its time to make one last appeal

    That's my dog train that will come back one day
