Visitor's Delicacy

Visitor's Delicacy

A Poem by Rebecca

Your terse coils snake around my neck,
Your looming sculpture rests
in the shadows of
An encased mind.
Your sweet venom drips
From a devilishly toothy grin
In the plastic IV bag-
A velvet sunset coursing through my veins.
The echoes of your faint laughter Awaken a cryptic dream,
and set to rest a pretty nightmare.

He’s here.

Ensnared, Enchanted, Encrypted-I stare.

Blank.

Empty.

Pure.

Moonlit rivers stream down my face;
A binding thirst drives my soul;
My last breath you draw from my begging, quivering lips;

And from your breath you spake the lies my eyes foresaw.
