Tomorrow

Tomorrow

A Poem by RJ
"

About time.

"

TOMORROW

In a twinkling I can be
Far away  over the sea
Past today and its history
Climbing higher as I go
Holding to the bands of indigo
To tomorrow on I go
The wizard holds the key I know
Ticking faster the hands sweep by
On toward tomorrow fly I
Climbing higher I must outrun
Each new day before begun
Holding to his cloak am I
He will never let me die
When today grabs me gray and black
He reaches forward  and pulls me back
I hold tightly to his hand
Never going back to yesterland.

It's a nice image, flying westward across the dateline
into tomorrow. What is this self that you need to
be saved from? Can a friend save one from that? They
say the secret of life is 'to know thyself'. I'd love to
hear you describe that self in a poem. I'm working on
just that. Too few of us know who we are. Some say
that when we find out, we'll be astonished. I half suspect
that to be true. We have an inkling of the grandeur,
but seem lost in the search for ourselves. Too few of us
rate the search as important.
