You Don’t Understand

You Don’t Understand

A Poem by Baconkiller
"

a poem primarily based off of my mother

"

You don’t understand me

You say you do and you try

I don’t believe you

I never have

You don’t see me eye to eye

When I’m curled with despair

You don’t see my anguish from your actions

And I never see yours

I never understood you either

The pain I feel

For you, and from

Love and hate are on a thin line

One which is blurred

I want to hate

And I want to love

I can’t chose

And I still don’t understand you

The memories we share

And the ones we don’t

I see through different eyes

Even when you thought otherwise

I can never see the way you want me to

Or act as you do

I still don’t understand you

The expectations you set for me

Too high to even see

You expect me to change

By subtle snares and glares

Yet,

You say you love me and are proud

Explain to me why I see disappointment

In those eyes

I can’t be you

I don’t understand you

The grief your choices give

Without explanation

Send forth a wave of melancholy

The blandness and isolation

Something, You, could never fix

You don’t understand me

And you never will
