Ins-parent-tionA Poem by Cat TeeInspired by a quote by unknown author.
"I have my mother's mouth and my father's eyes; on my face they are still together."
Inevitably, I resign to the resonation of this author's life and line to mine. My mother's mouth, frowns, talk, endless metaphors, off-tune singing. I wish I could say she gave me the best of her. My father's eyes, playful spark, soul, snap of emotion, held-back tears. I wish I could say he still gives her the best of him. "They are still together" "on my face" which, a bi-racial given, puts me out of place. Perhaps the push is good, though, For from past mistakes, good can flourish One can hope- I can only hope.
