Happiest but saddest day of my life

Happiest but saddest day of my life

A Story by Rebeca Terralheiro
"

A true story with a fun lesson in the end.

"
I started walking to field three. I was so excited. I  got to the field. "where's coach?"I asked my teammate.
         "He's not here? she replied
"Again? It's the second week in a row!" I said. My teammate, Lexi's, mom warmed usup and got us ready to start. The game was about to begin."What are we going to do If we don't have a coach?" I asked. Thankfully a travel coach coached us for the first quarter. We started the second quarter very well, then coach finally walked inand started yelling at us to run. Then I yelled, "Nicole, pass!" She passed the bad to me. The goalie came up to me, so I passed it to my teammate, Sofia. Then she passed it back to me! I didn't even think. I kicked my hardest and everyone watched it go into the goal. I SCORED! I was so excited and after that I just kept playing hard. I almost scored three other times! I think I just needed that extra boost to keep me going. Finally, it was halftime. We sat down and took a break. Coach came back from talking to the other coach.
He said "Good pass Nicole! Remember, Rebeca, use the cheerleader kick to score."
" What?!?" I thought to  myself. He didn't evensay he thought it was a goid goalor that I improved! If you don't know what a cheerleader kick is it is when you kick you're leg as far as it can go.  He says it gives your kick more power, but I think my kicks are are hard enough for an eleven year old girl. Then I started off slow as a snail. I thought, why listen to our coach? Sofia, Ashley, and I were with each other last season when my uncle was the coach. Why can't we take what we learned then and use it now to help us? I passed the ball to Nicole and she took a shot. She SCORED! We tried really hard to score again, but as we tried harder, they try harder. Our goalie didn't try hard enough though. She let in four goals! Then we had to work extra hard to make sure the ball didn't even get close to the goal. We couldnt give them another goal. Nicole missed twice. The first time a girl from the other team kicked the ball to the side. The other one the goalie caught. The game finally ended. It felt like it lasted three hours, but it really was only one. I got home and told my sister the news of how I scored a goal and how we lost two to four, but at least we put up a fight and we got to work together really well for the first time. We also learned a lesson; never let Lexi be goalie!
