The MURDER

The MURDER

A Poem by Shannen Teopiz

It was the 2nd … yesterday

It was our 2nd

Second moon of our love

He and I

Have been through so much

Within our two moons

We hiked mountains so high

Swam seas so deep

Memories I will so lovingly keep

I could even recall that first night, when

A dance he offered

Under the stars, among the crowd

It wasn’t so prepared, yes

But it still is my favorite dance

We just swayed our love

There was no music, no there wasn’t

But I could feel my heart beating fast

That it became the music of our night

We did not converse

And we had our eyes to talk for us

I could still feel the enchantment

of that night

and so in our second moon

I wanted it to be well-prepared

And instead of relaying my plan to him

I kept it for myself as a plan

Of surprise

At 4 pm of yesterday

My feet took me to a pastry shop

Inside, my purse, I dropped

As I picked it up

I saw from the corner of my eye

Familiar shoes walked by

I stood, I was right… it ‘was’ him

The man I loved most

Approached a table

Kissed a girl I most certainly will call

Awfully beautiful

I got so damn furious

Ready to start a war

I walked towards them

He laid his eyes on me, and when

I stood in front of them

He smiled and said,

“Hey Sarah! Watcha doin’ here?”

I couldn’t move, couldn’t say a thing

I got jelly legs

My eyes poured rain

I ran home and cried,

I cried…

He hurt me

That wasn’t even my name

Not Sarah, not Lily, not Cherry…

It’s Sandie

He killed me.It was the 2nd … yesterday

It was our 2nd
