Sun Catcher

Sun Catcher

A Poem by beauitifulybroken

In the early years of my life

sunshine shone in window

reflections of the rainbow sun catcher

making rainbow’s on the floor

I’d be dancing around

not a care in the world

such a free soul,

i used to sneak in through the side window

when i forgot my key

climb up on the green bin

and pray my pants wouldn’t get caught

on the fence

on the way in

falling to the floor

getting up and dusting it off

singing to my own music and

dancing to the rhythm of my heart

years passed and life seemed to lose the magic

wanting to be older

to have your own freedom

instead you get trapped in the illusion

wanting so badly to be on your own

until you realize there is no one there to rely on

except yourself

I think it’s time to find that old sun catcher

to dance in the rainbow soaked floors

I’ll begin to feel the magic that was once there

make new music to dance to

and sing my songs loudly

let the pain bleed out with each word

and replace it with my own freedom
