Think About It

Think About It

A Chapter by Ashton Smith

1 MONTH 2 DAYS 17 HOURS LATER

Bam! I slam shut the truck hood with a sigh. "Did ole Chevy finally bite the dust?" I smile to myself as I turn around to find Marcus Anthony smirking with his arms crossed. "Well, I wouldn't say that. It's not anything a good trip to my garage won't fix." Marcus just rolls his eyes, "Whatever Chase." I smile and lean against the beat up truck, "How did tryouts go?" Studying his feet, he shrugs. "Okay, I guess. Coach Smith says I have a strong chance in the 128 weight class if I really work hard at it." I slap his back and grin, "Sounds like it went better than okay! That's awesome Anthony!" Marcus taps the top of the hood and laughs nervously. "Yeah, well that's not all...He really wants you to be his 160, heard you aren't so shabby on the mat."

Groaning, I open the side door looking for my phone. "Look dude, I don't know why you don't want to wrestle here when you are the clearly the fastest I have ever seen." I tighten my jaw and glare at him, "That part of my life is done. Gone. In the past and I don't want to revisit it." Marcus raises his hands and eyes soften, "Just... think about it." Sighing, I nod. "Okay, I will think about it. But if I do, then you owe me." He nods and points to the back door of the school, "Lets just get to first hour. I don't like getting locked out of Mr. Hurd's class." I laugh and nod in agreement, "We can't have that happen again. The girls might actually start to think you are cool." Laughing, I take off for the back door out of the reach of a snarling Marcus.
