Silence of a Breaking Heart

Secrets came on wings of the wind,
with shadow puppet butterflies
fading from one life to the next.

Gray fingered wings groped
their way through the masses,
muddying assumptions of truth.

Shadows never felt so heavy
and intruding
as they did in my absolute silence.
